Want to take a trip but you have no idea where to start? I’ve been there. There are countless ways to start planning a trip, but if you get overwhelmed easily or just don’t know where to begin, these three methods are an easy place to start, and are how I plan my own trips.
Budget
This option is perfect for those who know about how much money they can realistically save during a given time period. Once you have a budget in mind, you can use search options such as typing “Everywhere” as the destination, and “Cheapest Month” as the when. Flight websites like Skyscanner use these parameters to find destinations with a lower price point. Don’t forget to look at leaving from all the airports near you to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
Timeline
Have a job or obligation that only lets you take vacation during a certain time of year? You can use the “Everywhere” as your destination but opt to specify your dates. This shows you the most cost-effective destinations during the time period that works best for you.
Place
If you have a place on your bucket list, and aren’t picky about when you travel, you can pick the place, and then use the “Cheapest Month” option. The results will show the cheapest month of the year, and then you can select the cheapest time within that month. It’s a good way to begin to develop a budget for you dream trip.
